Ludovico Van vive ai giorni nostri, si è stabilito a New York per la precisione. Ha lunghissimi capelli biondi, indossa calze a rete, succinte mise di pelle e borchie, stivali con tacchi a stiletto, e fa sanguinare chitarre e violini come il più crudele torturatore delle segrete dei palazzi reali d'Asburgo. Stiamo ovviamente parlando di The Great Kat, genio e sregolatezza, virtuosa e delirante chitarrista/violinista/artista abbeveratasi dapprima al sacro calice del verbo metal, per poi dedicarsi quasi esclusivamente alla riproposizione della musica classica in chiave shred, ovvero stupro allo stato puro. "Beethoven's Guitar Shred" è il nuovo DVD di Kat, ultrafast (11 minuti circa di durata...totale!), esattamente come le falangi uncinate dell'agguerrita figlia del demonio. Il dischetto si avvale di una sezione dedicata ai videoclip, 7 capitoli per meno di 8 minuti, fate un po' voi... Domina "Il Volo Del Calabrone", eseguito (sarebbe meglio dire martoriato) alla velocità della luce e oltre. "Torture Techinques" è bondage/sadomaso metal, i poveri slaves di Kat subiscono ogni umiliazione (in)concepibile. "Paganini's Caprice #24" ti piazza a pieno schermo una Kat interamente lorda e coperta di sangue, alla maniera di Carrie/Sissy Spacek, pur con un décolleté di generosa magnificenza; alle sue spalle confabulano non meglio precisate figure incappuciate para-massonico-clericali. "Blood" è splatter/death metal ai limiti dell'intellegibilità. Una sorta di sfogo intestinale di Kat, tra membra umane assemblate alla rinfusa. "Beethoven's 5th Symphony" è un tributo al padre putativo (stavolta si vede anche uno straccio di band di contorno). Personalmente obbligherei Mr. Malmsteen a sciropparsi la visione del clip in loop perenne, eh eh! "Islamofascists" è destabilizzante, Kat tortura e sgozza dei prigionieri di guerra incappucciati...integralismo e fascismo la fanno da padrona in questi 50 secondi, da quale parte della barricata, difficile a dirsi. "Bach's Brandenburg Concerto #3" invece ci offre una Kat in versione Barry Lyndon, con camiciola di seta bianca e aulica mobilia settecentesca. Ci sono poi le Bonus Features, ossia una carrellata di immagini...indovinate di chi? The Great Kat, bravi (ma come avete fatto...!). E poi a seguire i vari "shred genius" a lei comparabili (tra questi: Rossini, Poe, Giovanna D'Arco, Galilei, Wagner, Mozart, Bach...), alternati in parata alla maniera di "Arancia Meccanica" (si intenda il Guglielmo Tell rossiniano sparato parossisticamente a 78 giri). Divertenti i 45 secondi di "Shred Kartoon", nei quali una popputa e inesorabile Kat cartoon uccide sia musicalmente che zoologicamente il famigerato calabrone volante. Come dite? La recensione è più lunga del DVD? Poveri mortali, pfui!
  
Ludwig Van lives today, he was established in New York to be precise. He has long blond hair, wearing stockings, succinct sets of leather and studs, boots with stiletto heels, and is making guitars and violins bleed as the most cruel torturer of the dungeons of the royal palaces of the Habsburgs. We are obviously talking about The Great Kat, Her genius and madness Majesty, virtuous and delirious guitarist/violinist/artist who drank first from the holy grail of heavy metal music, and then devoted herself almost exclusively to take classical music to shred, that means pure rape! "Beethoven's Guitar Shred" is the new Kat's DVD, ultrafast (total running time: 11 minutes!) just as the hooked phalanges of this fierce daughter of the devil are.
The shred videoclips section counts 7 chapters for less than 8 minutes. "The Flight Of The Bumble-Bee" rules, it runs (it would be better to say: it tortures) at the speed of light and beyond. "Torture Techinques is bondage/sado-masochistic metal, the poor slaves of Kat have to suffer any humiliation she conceives. "Paganini's Caprice #24" places on full-screen a whole bloody covered Kat, in the manner of Carrie/Sissy Spacek, also with a generous décolleté magnificence. On the back you see unidentified hooded masonic and clerical figures. "Blood" is a piece of splatter death metal pushed at the limits. A sort of intestinal outburst while Kat moves among human limbs assembled in bulk. "Beethoven's 5th Symphony" is a tribute to the putative father (this time you can see even some bandmates playing with Kat). Mr. Malmsteen should be obliged to watch this clip in loop, ah ah! Islamofascists" is something destabilizing, Kat slains and tortures hooded war prisoners ... fascism and fundamentalism rule here, but who's who? In "Bach's Brandenburg Concerto # 3" Kat wear a sort of Barry Lyndon costume, playing in white silk blouses among noble Eighteenth century furniture.
Then you have Bonus Features, that mean a series of pictures of...guess who? The Great Kat, you got it! Then the pictures of some "shred genius" comparable to her (including: Rossini, Poe, Joan of Arc, Galileo, Wagner, Mozart, Bach ...). You can see them on a Clockwork Orange parade (I mean, the Rossini's William Tell hyperspeed shot). 45 seconds of "Shred Kartoon" is fun, a large breasted and inexorable cartoon of Kat kills both musically and physically the flying Bumble-Bee. ...What are you saying? The review is longer than the entire DVD? You poor miserable mortals!
