Delirious U.S. metal heroine who knowed her luck in the early '90s. Katherine Thomas, a.k.a The Great Kat, is a guitarist-violinist who likes to act and behave borderline. "Worship Me Or Die!" and the subsequent "Beethoven On Speed" are her best known albums, a concentration of classical music raped by her electric guitar, and a bunch of speed /thrash metal songs written by Kat herself. Although her character could be seen as a sort of freak, grotesque and very aggressive one, you have to believe that her music - especially speaking of her original self written songs as "Ultra Dead", "Kat Abuse", "Made In Japan", "Sex And Violins" - really works great! The interviews she used to release in the '90s were pure fun to read, arrogance and swaggerness that can overcome all the Joey De Maio /Dave Mustaine /Ronnie James Dio /Ritchie Blackmore parade. The English blond mistress (she moved to U.S.A. when she was 3 years old) has been a New York Julliard School graduated. She is often quoted as one of the ten fastest shredder of all time, and praised for her clean and speedy touch on the guitar. She ia also compared to Yngwie Malmsteen as his female alter ego speaking of technical skill on playing guitar. Recently the Polish label Metal Mind has reprinted and remastered her first two albums, with the add of some bonus material. Definitely an artist you should consider and value for what she deserves, just take by your side irony and sense of humor. Psychotron		Delirante eroina del metal a stelle strisce che conobbe la propria fortuna nei primi anni '90, Katherine Thomas, nota al mondo per le proprie nefandezze con il monicker di The Great Kat, è una chitarrista violinista patologicamente sopra le righe. Tutti ce la ricordiamo per gli album "Worship Me Or Die!" e per il successivo "Beethoven On Speed", ovvero un concentrato di musica classica violentata dalla chitarra elettrica della bionda chitarrista e brani speed /thrash metal composti dalla stessa Kat. Nonostante si trattasse di un personaggio ai limiti del freak, del grottesco, del parodistico, il metal dell'aggressiva inglesina (trasferitasi negli States all'età di 3 anni) funzionava, soprattutto nei momenti inediti di propria creazione, come per "Ultra Dead", "Kat Abuse", "Made In Japan", "Sex And Violins". Le interviste rilasciate da Kat erano divertimento allo stato puro, sbruffoneria talmente clownesca da battere sul proprio terreno addirittura palloni gonfiati doc come i vari Joey De Maio, Dave Mustaine, Ronnie James Dio, Ritchie Blackmore, etc.. Eppure la biondina tutta borchie e frustino era una scolaretta modello della prestigiosa Julliard School di New York City. Citata come una delle dieci shredder più veloci di tutti i tempi, apprezzata per la pulizia del tocco mista alla velocità, era ritenuta da alcuni il termine di paragone al femminile di sua maestà Malmsteen. recentemente la polacca Metal Mind ha ristampato l'album rimasterizzandolo e aggiungendo materiale bonus.
