- THE GREAT KAT Wagner's War (Mini-cd)(TPR Music)
- We will never forget what 11 September was. For some it was like a sort
of reflection of the current state manchild was in and for some it was like a declaration
of war. Of course it all depends who or where you were but I can feel how the people from
New York must have felt like...speechless and a sort of anger...and as anger can be outed
in many ways, we can hear that when we put on the cd by The Great Kat. The Great Kat is a
metal goddess who's from New York City and on this cd she expresses her feelings...it are
feelings of destruction, a desire to destroy all those who burned down the American dream
as The Great Kat stands with an American flag on the cover, ready to start the war. This
cd starts with a metalversion of "The ride of the Valkyres" by Wagner (remember
the helicopters in Francis Ford Coppola's "Apocalypse now") and it all ends in a
war, a victory... Of course lots of people will wonder if war is the right answer. I am
not going to start this debate but I just see it in a perspective that's based on music as
seeing the speeches of Bush makes me more than sad enough, this is speedmetal in where own
melodies are mixed with well known classical pieces (Liszt, Sarastase) and that itself is
already something very original. Not your daily music but the event wasn't daily as
well...
