"BEETHOVEN'S GUITAR SHRED" DVD REVIEW IN DOMAIN CELEVELAND
By Larry "LarryMac" McCloskey, Domain Cleveland "BEETHOVEN'S GUITAR SHRED" DVD REVIEW IN DOMAIN CELEVELAND
The Great Kat: Beethoven’s Guitar Shred

The Great Kat is back with her latest homage to the classical masters with Beethoven's Guitar Shred. As always, she's got something new up her studded leather sleeves for her faithful worshippers.

Beethoven's Guitar Shred, like most of her previous offerings, has a pretty even mix of classical works and original material. In addition to her spin on "Bach's Brandenburg Concerto #3", she reprises "Flight of the Bumble-Bee", "Paganini's Caprice #24" and "Beethoven's 5th Symphony" - the three of which appeared on 1990's Beethoven on Speed - but, this time, in video form. There are also videos for her own "Torture Techniques", "Blood" and "Islamofascists". The original videos, of course, feature Kat in all her leather-clad glory showing viewers what makes her live performances such a rush. Guitar aficionados, of course, have always been able to marvel at the speed of her playing and her ability to maintain such precision despite that speed, but now even the uninitiated can get a feel for what she's all about while watching her fingers fly up and down the frets.

Of course, the one knock on this DVD is the fact that Kat can blow through the meager seven tracks in record time. Fortunately, the disc contains plenty of bonus material with a shredding Kartoon version, a quick-hitting montage of history's "Shred Geniuses", "Bach's The Art of the Fugue" and more.

For fans of The Great Kat, regardless of how many times you've heard her blister Beethoven on the guitar, you haven't experienced it like this. Pick up a copy and shred.
