"BEETHOVEN'S GUITAR SHRED" DVD REVIEW IN D-DAY'S REVENGE
By Dennis Day, BD-Day's Revenge "BEETHOVEN'S GUITAR SHRED" DVD REVIEW IN D-DAY'S REVENGE

The Great Kat: Beethoven's Guitar Shred DVD

Let me start by saying that I was very excited about watching this DVD. I know that I obviously had no bearing on how this was made, but it made me feel as if someone read my less than flattering review of a previous Great Kat video and made this one just for me.

My complaint about the other DVD dealt with the fact that each video was simply a dizzying flash of pictures during each song while I was really hoping to see The Great Kat actually playing. So obviously "Beethoven's Guitar Shred" is a very pleasant surprise! I am now able to watch her shredding on the guitar and enjoying every minute.

I would say that my personal favorites are "Paganini's Caprice #24", "Beethoven's 5th Symphony" and of course "Bach's Brandenburg Concerto #3". One of the reasons I chose the latter is the fact of seeing The Great Kat in an entirely different way. It was almost shocking to see her dressed in white and pink rather than the trademark black leather. (Have no fear all of you drooling male fans. There is still plenty of leg and the ample cleavage that you've all come to know and love.)

As with many DVD's, there are also some bonus features and even a Kat Kartoon. Not a cartoon story like you would watch on Saturday mornings... but it is "The flight of The Bumble-bee" being played by an animated Great Kat.

It felt like I watched this entire DVD in about 10 minutes, and perhaps that was the true time. But as I touched on earlier, it is easily something that I can watch many times (and already have) due to my joy at seeing The Great Kat for more than a split second at a time. I even felt like I was being given a privilege by catching brief moments of seeing her play without the trademark open mouth or gritting teeth. It was refreshing.

Overall, I would give The Great Kat's "Beethoven's Guitar Shred" a big thumbs up.

Does she have the Metallica or Michael Jackson sized production budget for videos? Of course not. But it's easy to overlook that point and simply enjoy the blistering speed of the music and the opportunity to see The Great Kat in action.

Be sure to check it out!
